Feature & Follow #3

Friday 8 May 2015

Feature and Follow is a weekly feature hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
Thank you for making me a Featured Blogger this week!

The aim is to make new friends in the book blogging community and gain new followers to your blog.
Question of the week:
How do you decide what books to read?
I usually try to prioritise my ARCs first. I have them listed in a spreadsheet and sorted by publication date so I know what books are being published soon. I then alternate between author requests (if any are pending), book group reads and my own choice. My own choice is usually a book I've been wanting to read for a while or a new release that I'm desperate to read!

  1. I'm like you with the "ARCs come first" I have a couple books out from the library that I'm dying to read but I must read and write review for all the ARCs this month and then the lib stuff. :)

After that, I usually just choose a book from my 2015 TBR on Goodreads or go to the library (but I'm making a point to only read book from my 2015 TBR since they are must-reads and have high priorities)

    1. I'm the same actually! I have a few out too but I need to read a few others first. I have a really bad habit of borrowing books even when I have loads at home still to read!

Sticking to a 2015 TBR sounds like a good idea! There are so many good books out this year.

Thanks for following! Following back :)

  3. You're more organised than me! A spreadsheet sounds like a great idea to keep ARCs prioritised. I usually choose my books based on moods and sometimes that's simply being eager to read a new release or one I've been waiting on too. Congrats on the feature! New follower.

  6. Oh wow! That sounds really detailed! I don't get too many ARCs and review books, but when I do, those are priority no matter their release date. I will slip in a new release on occasion if it's a MUST READ NOW kind of book though! I am almost caught up with review books so I kind of almost hope I don't get any more for awhile!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. Much more organized than me :) I need to get on what your doing! I'm a mood reader, but I try to read any ARCs and books I've accepted for review within 30 days of publish or receiving them. Then the rest of the time is based on what I want. However right now I'm sorely behind!!!

Congrats on being featured this week. New follower on Bloglovin.

Hi! I'm a new follower on GFC and bloglovin'.

The idea with the spreadsheet is awesome. I should try that too.

And yes, I usually read ARCs first too and then go on to my own books. :)

  24. I'm the same with reading ARCs and author requests first, only not as organized. I just read them whenever I can fit them in and I don't have a list of publication dates. I should do that!

    1. It's made it much easier for me to keep track but I still read them when I can fit them in. Sometimes other books have to come first if it's something I've been looking forward to! :)

  25. I do something really similar! I've become a lot more picky about the ARCs I accept and galleys I request, though. I've been fooled too many times by pretty covers and amazing book blurbs. I find I like reading a lot more when I choose to read existing books I KNOW I'm going to love. That way if I have to DNF a book, I don't have to feel bad and email the author or anything. (:

    1. I know the feeling! The request button becomes far too addicting. I'm trying to be more picky too because like you, I've been fooled by books that sound so good and then I'm disappointed. Sounds like you have the right idea! :)

  26. You are amazingly better organised than I :) I basically tend to go with whatever I feel like reading, which inevitably does mean I fall behind sometimes... yeah, I need to work on that, don't I?
