Feature & Follow #13: My Favourite Movie

Friday, 24 July 2015

Feature and Follow is a weekly feature hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
The aim is to make new friends in the book blogging community and discover new blogs.
Question of the week:
What is your favorite movie? - Suggested by A Kernel of Nonsense.

I don't watch that many movies and there are loads that I still haven't seen that are considered "must-sees". With that being said, I love the Harry Potter movies (of course), The Hunger Games movies (of course) and classics such as Grease, Matilda and The Da Vinci Code.

What are your favourite movies? Let me know!

Feature & Follow #12: My Dream Library

Question of the week:
If you had the money what would your own personal library look like? What would be in it? What colors, decorations, etc would you put in it? - Suggested by The Realm of Books.

If I could have anything my library would look like the Beauty and the Beast library:

Look at how beautiful it is! It is heavenly.

I would definitely love a library that is cosy. Lots of lamps, fairy lights, comfy chairs and blankets.
There would need to be a lot of shelves/bookcases for my ever-increasing book collection too.

Question of the week:
You can only eat one cuisine type for the rest of your life. Which would you choose? (E.g. Italian, French, Greek, Mexican, Chinese, Indian etc…) - Suggested by Journey Through Fiction.

I would absolutely choose Italian. I LOVE Italian food! I practically already live on it so I don't think I would find it too hard! There is quite a lot of variety too which would be helpful if you could only eat one cuisine.
What would you choose?

Question of the week:
What is the first book you remember reading? - Suggested by Bookish Findings.
I can remember reading various Enid Blyton books and others that I can't remember the name of now. The first book I remember reading and falling in love with is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I also began to read A Series of Unfortunate Events a few years later which became the second series that I loved.

Question of the week:
Is there a book that you were required to read in school that you actually loved?
Suggested by Natalie Hearts Books.
We read The Catcher in the Rye in my early years of high school and I really enjoyed it. I can remember reading other books in school beforehand that I liked too but unfortunately I can't remember the names of them. Which is actually quite annoying as I'd like to see them again just for nostalgia reasons!

Did you have to read a book in school that you ended up loving?

Question of the week:
If you were to get a tattoo, what would it say or what would the graphic be? Or if you have a tattoo, share a picture and its meaning. - Suggested by Second Run Reviews.
If I was to get a tattoo then I would probably go for a quote that I like. I would definitely be tempted to go for something from a book that I love. It's unlikely that I'll ever get a tattoo though as I have a habit of changing my mind and liking new things so I don't want to be stuck with something I grow to not love as much.

Do you have a tattoo or a great idea for one? I'd love to know!

Question of the week:
If you can step into one characters shoes (in a book) and be them for a day who would it be and why? Also if you want to be creative, what scene? - Suggested by Seeing Night Book Reviews.
I think I would have to choose Hermione from Harry Potter. I have loved the Harry Potter series ever since it came out when I was a kid and I would love to be able to spend a day in that world! Hermione is one of my favourite characters and I would love being able to go to the different classes to learn about magic as well as chilling out (well, more hunting Voldemort than chilling) with Harry and Ron. It is just too hard to choose a particular scene!

Question of the week:
How many books have you got on your TBR list?
I currently have 166 books on my TBR on Goodreads.
I usually only add the first book of a series before I read it though and there's bound to be books I haven't got around to adding yet so it's definitely closer to the 200 mark at least.

Feel free to friend me on Goodreads. I love to see what everyone is reading!

Question of the week:
How do you write your reviews?
I try to write my reviews as soon as possible after I finish a book as all the details are still in my head. I occasionally write things down whilst reading a book if it's something that I want to remember to mention in my review. Generally, I don't have a specific format for my reviews and try to just write my honest feelings about the plot, the characters and so on. I actually sometimes find it harder to write reviews for books that I loved!

Do you have a specific method for writing your reviews?

Question of the week:
How do you organize your books? Either at home on your bookshelves or on your reading-device, or on your bookish platform like Goodreads, Leafmarks or Booklikes.
I have a bookcase but it is completely full. It's mostly full of books that I have read or have no intention of reading any time soon. My newer books are piled on my desk. I'm really hoping to get a new, bigger, bookcase soon so I can have them all in there. I don't have a special system for my kindle and only a few additional shelves on Goodreads. Spreadsheets are my friend for keeping my books organised!

My dream is to one day have a spare room that I can turn into a library.
I'm totally envious of the masterpiece of a library in Beauty and the Beast:

Question of the week:
How do you decide what books to read?
I usually try to prioritise my ARCs first. I have them listed in a spreadsheet and sorted by publication date so I know what books are being published soon. I then alternate between author requests (if any are pending), book group reads and my own choice. My own choice is usually a book I've been wanting to read for a while or a new release that I'm desperate to read!

Question of the week:
How do you cure a book hangover/blogging slump/reading slump?
I haven't had many reading slumps thankfully but when I do I usually do something else for a while.  I usually persevere with books that aren't really doing anything for me but I decided recently that there are too many books and not enough time (!) so if I really don't like a book I'm not going to finish it. Sometimes I try reading a different genre to mix it up a bit too.

If I'm in a book hangover after finishing a really great book then I usually need about a day to recover! I usually spend that time looking for similar books because I had such a great experience.

Question of the week:
How did you come up with your blog title and address? Does it have a special meaning for you?

My blog title is actually quite simple - Nicola is my name and I read YA books.
I wanted to keep it quite simple but also representative of what the blog is about.
I have been reviewing on Goodreads for a while but thought it was time for a blog!
It doesn't have a particularly special meaning other than it sums me up perfectly! :)
