Feature and Follow is a weekly feature hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
The aim is to make new friends in the book blogging community and gain new followers to your blog.
Question of the week:
How do you cure a book hangover/blogging slump/reading slump?
I haven't had many reading slumps thankfully but when I do I usually do something else for a while. I usually persevere with books that aren't really doing anything for me but I decided recently that there are too many books and not enough time (!) so if I really don't like a book I'm not going to finish it. Sometimes I try reading a different genre to mix it up a bit too.
If I'm in a book hangover after finishing a really great book then I usually need about a day to recover! I usually spend that time looking for similar books because I had such a great experience.
Good call on just not finishing books you're not that into. Life's too short, I say. Mixing it up is a good idea. I can only remember having a book hangover once in my life, and it was very recently. I was just so blown away. Books were broken. But I finally came up with a solution: http://www.bookpunks.com/finish-the-best-book-youve-ever-read-and-despair/
ReplyDeleteI agree! There are just too many books out there needing to be read for me to stick with something bad.
DeleteChecking out your post!
I have a habit of just reading through books even when I'm not enjoying. I keep telling myself to just DNF but I haven't yet. I'll get there. Following you back on all fronts. Thanks, and don't be a stranger!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I always used to be like too but I DNF'd two this month as I just couldn't get into them and it feels good now I've done it!

Good books are definitely the key!
DeleteOh nice! Yeah, I don't always hold to the gotta finish the book. If it isn't working, it isn't working. I will skim one though if I reach that point!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and following my blog! Returning the follow!
Have a GREAT day!

I'm the same on not finishing books. I use to try and finish every book I started but like you said there's so many books and not enough time. So if I have to force myself to read it, then I just move on. The only time that doesn't apply is when I am reading for review. Then i really do try and finish no matter what, but even then I have just had to stop.

I try to always make an exception with review copies too but sometimes you've got to just move on to something better!
DeleteThank you for following! :)
Aren't we lucky that we haven't fell into any reading slumps?! I agree, taking some time off doing other things definitely helps ! I've found myself in review slumps before, and I use this method whenever it happens :)

DeleteBefore I started blogging I would never leave a book unfinished, but since I've been blogging, like you I've come to realise that there's too many books and too little time!

You're lucky you can stand not finishing a book. I tend to get stuck and can't read anything else if a book I get stuck on puts me on a slump.
